Jewellery Care

Caring for your jewellery is essential to maintain its sparkle and prevent tarnishing and scratches. Here are some tips on how to care for your pieces:

Store Properly:

Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Use airtight containers or zip-lock bags for sterling silver jewellery to reduce exposure to air, which can cause tarnishing.

Avoid Exposure:

Keep your jewellery away from harsh chemicals, such as perfumes, hair sprays, and cleaning products. Remove your jewellery before swimming, bathing, or engaging in activities that may expose it to chemicals or abrasive substances.

Clean Regularly:

Clean your jewellery regularly to remove oils, dirt, and tarnish.
Use a soft cloth or a special cleaning cloth specifically for the type of metal that the piece is made of (i.e. silver cleaning cloth for sterling silver etc.) to gently polish the jewellery.
For sterling silver with stubborn tarnish, you can use a mild silver cleaner or create a paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste with a soft cloth, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry.

Avoid Scratches:

Store your jewellery separately to prevent scratches. Consider using individual pouches or wrapping each piece in a soft cloth.
Be mindful of activities that may cause scratches, and remove your jewellery during those times.

Professional Cleaning:

Periodically, consider professional cleaning for your jewellery, especially if the piece has intricate details that are hard to clean at home.

Check for Loose Stones:

If your jewellery has gemstones, periodically check for loose stones. If any are found, have them professionally secured to prevent loss.
